Final Reflections

Course Reflection: AE 481W & AE 482

The Senior Thesis Project for the Architectural Engineering Department at Penn State University is comprised of two individual courses spanning over two semesters. In the case of this particular project it focuses on the construction project titled 900 16th Street NW. The fall semester focused on evaluating the existing building systems, project constraints, construction means and methods, site logistics, and existing conditions. All of this information was culminated into three technical reports, all of which can be found on this website. During the spring semester, students were to use the research that they conducted in the fall to provide specific areas of the construction means and methods that have room for improvement. The purpose of this portion of the senior thesis capstone was to help for me to learn to effectively communicate with industry professionals across several fields and develop my ability to solve engineering problems. Through the process of completing my senior capstone project I feel confident that I am prepared to enter the industry upon graduation.

CPEP Reflection:

The CPEP (Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio) is used by AE students to document the progress of their thesis project. This webpages served as a tool to allow industry members, AE faculty, and others to view the work that has been completed thus far. Throughout the course of the year this tool allowed me to stay organized and keep track of the various submissions required.
